Want to learn more about some of the courses in OMSCS? Curious about what it's like to be a teaching assistant? Or maybe you'd like to learn a little bit more about the program in general? If any of these apply to you, we encourage you to stop by our virtual ta meet and greet! The folks listed below will be online for an hour to chat and answer your questions!

Note that this is a virtual-only session. While it is geared towards our virtual attendees in person attendees are also welcome to join.

 

Jason Jazzar (CS 6795: Introduction to Cognitive Science)

Jason Jazzar is from Sarasota, Florida and is a student of Georgia Tech’s OMSCS program, Master’s Project track. Jason plans to graduate this summer and has focused on researching block-based programming languages and automated assignment generators for introductory programming classes under the direction of OMSCS Director of Research, Dr. Nicholas Lytle. Jason is also a TA for CS 6795: Intro to Cognitive Science, supporting Dr. Keith McGreggor’s most recent course expansion to 750 students.

 

David Park (CS 7646: Machine Learning for Trading)

David Park is a Product Manager at JPMorgan Chase, leading AI & Data Products and Platform efforts across the firm. David is a proud graduate of the OMSCS program with an ML specialization, and has been serving as an Instructional Associate for CS 7646: Machine Learning for Trading for the past few years. When not delivering products or teaching, David enjoys volunteering and mentoring in the Seattle tech community.

 

Peter Graening (CS 6400: Database Systems Concepts and Design)

Peter Graening serves as Academic Program Director with Georgia Tech Professional Education, developing non-credit programs in computing, analytics, and cybersecurity, and additionally provides support as an Instructional Associate in the OMSCS program. A proud OMSCS graduate, he previously earned a bachelor’s in theatre arts and master’s degrees in information systems management and business administration, along with multiple cybersecurity certifications. Peter’s experience spans several industries, including transportation, accounting, healthcare, and cybersecurity. When not busy reminding new students to carefully review his course’s syllabus, you can find Peter running transports for a corgi rescue, finding an excuse to ride Amtrak, or scouring the Internet for unique Yellow Jacket or Legend of Zelda collectibles to add to his collection.

 

Chris Poch (CS 6340: Software Analysis)

Chris Poch has taught CS 6340: Software Analysis in OMSCS since 2018. He is an OMSCS alumnus and was a TA and Head TA in the program before his current role. By day, he is the Corporate Payments Commercial Technology Manager at WEX, where he runs customer-funded software development for one of the company’s three lines of business. He is part of a faculty committee that is investigating AI in education and was part of a team that used AI to reduce repetitive code writing needed to support a legacy application. Other interests include working on an award-winning musical Christmas light display, live audio production, and travel.
