What do you do professionally?
With a firm foundation in management consulting and expertise in financial services, I recently embarked on a dynamic new journey in the world of AI and analytics, driven by the knowledge I acquired from my MSc degree at Georgia Tech. Currently, I am laying the groundwork for an AI & Analytics Advisory firm, navigating the intricate process of business development within this rapidly-evolving industry. The world of AI is a rapidly transforming landscape, and it is an exhilarating opportunity to be at the forefront of this transformative technology.
Why do you TA for OMSCS?
Serving as a TA for CS 7646: Machine Learning for Trading in the OMSCS program is more than a position to me; it's a passion. The sheer joy of facilitating students' intellectual growth, the thrill of their "a-ha" moments as they gain profound, enduring knowledge, is genuinely rewarding. Equally, it keeps my technical competence honed and up-to-date. The unique questions raised by students each term invite us to delve deeper into the subject matter, reinforcing our expertise. This experience is further enriched by the sense of unity, shared purpose, and close friendships among my TA peers and our course instructors.
What is your advice for future OMSCS students?
My advice for prospective OMSCS students is encapsulated in this introspective question: "If every job in the world paid the exact same amount, what would you choose to do and why? Keep in mind, you must choose something." A sincere and deeply honest answer to this question will guide you to your true calling. Should that calling require specific qualifications, pursue them wholeheartedly. Though spending years in preparation might seem formidable, particularly in one's mid-life, when you look back in later life you'll appreciate the value of your investment. Ideally, your chosen field will not just position you well financially but also provide a sense of fulfillment. Simply put: I hope you find what makes you happy and that it pays well (whatever that means to you).
What hobby or activity are you looking forward to getting back to once you're done with OMSCS?
I love researching and deciphering intricate puzzles such the paradoxes associated with Relativity Theory. Recently, I had the opportunity of merging my dual passions for AI and Relativity Theory, the result of which is a paper entitled "Assessing GPT-4’s Role as a Co-Collaborator in Scientific Research: A Case Study Analyzing Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity". I’m happy that it was accepted and published this summer in the Discover Artificial Intelligence journal by Springer. This personal achievement has been partly fostered by my journey through the OMSCS program, and it is a testament to the invaluable guidance I received from mentors like Dr. Joyner, whose constructive feedback on my papers through my OMSCS journey significantly influenced my research trajectory and writing quality. So, my time in the OMSCS program is not only fulfilling my academic aspirations but also paving the way to achieve broader business and personal goals.
