We are pleased to be able to offer travel scholarships to OMSCS students and alumni to help offset the cost of traveling to the OMSCS Conference! Keep reading to learn more about the scholarship.
Scholarship Application Due: March 5, 2023 at 11:59 pm ET
Recipients Notified: March 10, 2023
Who is eligible to apply?
While everyone attending the conference in person may apply for a travel scholarship, the intent of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those whose travel costs would likely prohibit them from attending the conference. Note that submitting an application does not guarantee you will receive a scholarship.
How much money will I receive?
There is a limited amount of money available for travel scholarships. The amount awarded to each recipient will be dependent on the number of applicants and the discretion of the conference chairs.
How will recipients be determined?
Applications will be reviewed anonymously, and selection of scholarship recipients will be at the discretion of the conference chairs. Thoughtful, unique responses to the application questions will increase your likelihood of receiving a scholarship. Additionally, preference may be given to those who are presenting at the conference. Note that you must register for and attend the conference in person in order to receive your reimbursement.
How will recipients be notified that they have been selected?
Recipients will be notified on March 10 at the email address provided in the application. If you do not receive an email by March 10, this means you were not selected to receive a scholarship.
I received a travel scholarship; what happens next?
For non-GT employees and GT employees who live in Georgia: You will be asked to save your itemized travel receipts. After the conference, you will be provided with instructions on how to submit those receipts. Once your receipts are received and processed, you will receive a reimbursement for some or all of your travel expenses. Note that, due to the limited amount of scholarship money available, you may not be reimbursed for the full amount of your travel expenses.
For GT employees (including TAs) who live outside Georgia: If you are a Georgia Tech employee, you must submit a Spend Authorization through Workday prior to attending the conference. This Spend Authorization should include your estimated travel expenses. Note that the total estimate on your Spend Authorization must not exceed the amount of your scholarship, otherwise your Spend Authorization will not be approved. You will also be asked to save your itemized travel receipts. After the conference, you must submit an Expense Report through Workday which will include all of your travel expenses. Once your Expense Report is received and processed, you will receive a reimbursement for some or all of your travel expenses. Note that, due to the limited amount of scholarship money available, you may not be reimbursed for the full amount of your travel expenses.
