TA Spotlight: Hamid Hassanzadeh
Each week we spotlight an OMSCS TA, so you can get to know who's behind the screen. Here are four questions for Hamid Hassanzadeh, who TAs CS 6515: Introduction to Graduate Algorithms.
What do you do professionally?
I’m a Ph.D. student in bioinformatics program. We design machine learning–based pipelines for extending the state of the art in the biomedical and bioinformatics domains. My research mostly focuses on deep learning.
Why do you TA for OMSCS?
Since my background is mostly computational, I have helped OMSCS achieve its projected goals in this domain. So far, I have helped with two major courses—machine learning and the algorithms, both of which are interesting topics for me.
What's your advice for future students in OMSCS?
My advice is to take advantage of the huge amount of resources here at Tech. I am planning to apply for an OMSCS degree in future to get a chance to take those interesting courses. The big deal is that you have the same access as on-campus students with the same level of interaction with the course instructors. The professors are very responsive.
What's your preferred programming language and why?
I guess every data scientist will respond with Python, and I’m not an exception! Python is now the language of people in this field. If you want to understand them, you should know their language!
