A New Kind of AI Model from a ChatGPT Inventor is Thrilling Developers

OMSCS alum and former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida launched a new AI model, Jev, that makes probability-based decisions instead of generating text, making it faster, cheaper, and less prone to hallucinations for automation tasks. Developers are excited because Jev can match or exceed LLM performance for some software workflows while costing far less, potentially enabling AI to be embedded much more widely in everyday software.
