Every other week we spotlight an OMSCS TA, so you can get to know who's behind the screen. Here are four questions for Rayshawn Eatmon who has been a TA for CS 6035: Introduction to Information Security.
What do you do professionally?
I am a technical lead at a large insurance company, with over 12 years of software development experience. I currently lead a team of five developers. My professional experience includes working with C#.NET, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PowerShell, and T-SQL.
Why do you TA for OMSCS?
I appreciate the challenge and knowledge I've gained from the OMSCS program. It has helped me grow on a personal and professional level. I enjoy assisting other students as they learn and explore the field of information technology.
What's your advice for future students in OMSCS?
Be patient with yourself. There will definitely be times where you feel overwhelmed, especially if you work full-time and have other obligations. Don't give up — usually that's when you will have your "aha" moment.
What's your best study hack?
My study hack is to create a personal PowerPoint for myself with all my lecture and reading notes. Then I quiz myself with the PowerPoint for my exams. I also use it as a reference while completing projects for the course.
